:bear_w00t: Wow...that's some serious ching.

Some of those guns are serious collector items.

Hope the poor guy had insurance to cover his collection over and above his standard homeowners policy.

My neighbor got hit about ten years ago and his gun collection was even larger than this guy's.

About $20,000.00 worth of guns and his homeowners policy would only pay for 1 pistol or 1 long gun...the fine print got them off the hook.
I remember he got a check for $400.00 for a $20,000.00 loss and that was all the insurance company would pay.

Unless you have specific extra insurance coverage for collectibles like Rolex watches,diamonds,guns,etc.,most homeowners policies exclude any and all high value items from loss coverage.
Even if your home is destroyed by fire,they still get off the hook unless you took out specific extra insurance on what they consider luxury or hobby items.
Yes...that includes coin collections also.

Poor guy...I'll pass the word around to the local LEO's and pawn shops.

the same goes for gold, silver, cash etc. you'll get a check for $200 unless you took out extra coverage.

Why was a collection like that not stored in a very secure safe?

If I were to find it by accident I'd have to shoot a few rounds through it before I returned it.

:bear_w00t::bear_w00t::bear_w00t:

Cool and valuable...they're getting really hard to find.

That was my first thought as well. Did he have a safe? An alarm? How about fangs galore?

His M1 Garand was manufactured between the end of July and the end of August, 1942.

There was a local guy just down the street from us that had a massive safe ripped out of the cement and hauled off and no one saw it on a busy street and it was stuffed with guns. Another good reason to never open your mouth
